It started with an unplanned pregnancy in college …

When Loren and Cooper Ward found out they were expecting during their last semester of college, their world changed in an instant. On February 23, 2023, Loren learned she was pregnant and shared the news with Cooper through a Valentine’s surprise — a small box with two pink baby shoes. Though the future felt uncertain, they chose life for their baby, even when others told them they were throwing their future away.

Their joy soon turned to heartbreak when they lost their baby to miscarriage. Despite the grief, their love deepened. Three days after their mountain elopement, Loren physically miscarried — an experience that brought them even closer together and strengthened their faith.

In April 2023, shortly after their miscarriage, Loren launched Unplanned Stories to bring purpose to her pain. Having personally experienced the pressure and messaging women often face after an unplanned pregnancy, she set out to change the narrative. Drawing on her journalism background, Loren began sharing honest, compassionate stories that reveal the courage, resilience and hope found in choosing life.

With Cooper’s steady support, the project grew into a ministry that continues to inspire families to choose life. To honor their first baby, the Wards named her Rose on Oct. 11, 2023, and celebrated her would-be due date on Oct. 16, 2023. Though her life was brief, she left a lasting imprint on their hearts.

Today, Loren and Cooper are proud parents to Dean and Lucy — a living testament to the hope, love and purpose that began with their first baby, Rose.
